The SAT and ACT

Students often tremble just hearing about the SATs and the ACTs. A mere test that could make or break your way to your dream college, a test that could decide your future. No worry my friends, the SATs and ACTs often have a certain set of concepts to their problems and once these concepts are understood, the problems can be solved with ease. I just wanted to post about the official College Board SAT Study Guide(blue book) and the Official ACT Study Guide (red book). I highly reccomend these book to all high-school students, no matter their intelligence level. This book can help the beginners and the advanced. Unlike most SAT and ACT prep books, these official guides include actual SAT and ACT questions that show up on the exams. The answers are given inside each book and to check for work www.collegeconfidential.com is a great site to ask questions. My method of studying would be to take a sample test with no time limit, check your answers and learn how to solve your mistakes, then take a another test and hopefully improve upon your mistakes. I also recommend www.sparknotes.com for their very comprehensive grammar and essay writing guide. The guide goes over every grammar problem in the SAT and some essay tips. By studying the guide by maybe a week before the SAT, I increased my score by over 100 points. It may sound like a daunting task but a few vocab words a day, a few math problems a day, or a passage or two will add up to a higher score. Also with the new SAT score sending policy, you send one individual sitting to your college so don't be scared to take the SAT multiple times. The ACT also follows the same policy.
